Intrinsic Analytics’ Metabolomic Platform assesses and analyses metabolites that play a critical role in metabolic pathways and helps provide a “real time snapshot” of your health. Our Metabolomic Platform harnesses the power of Metabolomics, the emerging technology that holds promise in personalized medicine and disease prevention.
Intrinsic Analytics’ Metabolomic Platform is a unique, comprehensive, multiplex platform that offers two tests for metabolite analysis.
Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Test is a multiplex assay that provides quantitative and qualitative analysis of 26 metabolites (vitamins and minerals) that play a key role in human health. Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Test is a Laboratory developed test (LDT).
Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Test detects metabolites (vitamins, minerals) produced by the cells as part of the building and breakdown of larger molecules. The test uses the gold standard analytical technique Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry to detect the metabolite levels. The reported metabolite levels serve as a real time snapshot of your metabolic health and serves as a baseline for an individual’s metabolic health.
It is important to note, Intrinsic Analytics’ Metabolomic test is not a diagnostic test. It does not diagnose disease. However, it is a powerful tool designed to provide the individual with bioinformation that can guide them to take measures that can help with disease prevention.
Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Test is a comprehensive multiplex assay for metabolite analysis of nutritional status. The test results will provide you with a snapshot of the current status of all the metabolites.
Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Test is different from other available options as:
1. What to expect on the day of your appointment?
2. How do I get my results?
TBD
3. How do I prepare for the test?
Once your appointment is confirmed, you will receive a customised email with instructions outlining “How to prepare for the test” depending on the type of test you book for.
E.g. if you are getting a blood glucose (fasting) done, you would be required to come for the appointment empty stomach (fasting) for a minimum of 8 hours before your sample is collected. You can consume a small of amount of water.
Some general preparation instructions include:
4. How can I book Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Test?
Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Test can be booked online or you can also book an appointment over the phone.
Once the appointment is booked, the sample collection will be coordinated by us. Sample collection (blood) will be done and sent to the laboratory for processing. Samples collected will be processed in an ISO certified laboratory in Alberta. The results will be analyzed and interpreted by a team of experts at Intrinsic Analytics and the test report will be sent to the client.
5. Is Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Test a pre-approved diagnostic test?
Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Test is a Laboratory developed test (LDT) and serves as an indicator for health parameters. It is focused on the comprehensive qualitative and quantitative evaluation of 26 metabolites (vitamins and minerals) that play a key role in human health.A diagnostic test requires a thorough review by a physician.
6. Can I get a single metabolite evaluation using Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Test?
Yes, you can get a single metabolite evaluated for using the BioNutrient Test. Our BioNutrient Test analyses 26 vitamins and minerals. You can pick one or more from the list available in the panel. Here is the list of vitamins and minerals that Intrinsic Analytics tests for.
7. Do I need a requisition form from my clinician prior to booking Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Test?
You will need a requisition form from your clinician if you are getting a nutritional assessment done after being advised by your healthcare practitioner.
However, if you are looking to get an overall nutritional assessment done to check for the vitamin and mineral levels, we do provide you with our own requisition form.
8. Will Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Test be covered under my provincial health coverage? Intrinsic Analytics is a private company and does not fall under the umbrella of the provincial laboratories doing similar assessments. Therefore, the test is currently not covered under the provincial health coverage.
9. Does Intrinsic Analytics provide with nutritional consultations? Yes, Intrinsic Analytics does provide nutritional consultations as a service at an additional cost. We have a team of nutritionists and registered dieticians that will assess your current nutritional health, dietary status and design a personalized action plan to fit your lifestyle and achieve your overall health goals.

10. How will I be able to track my progress with respect to my nutritional health? Once you book your first BioNutrient Test, your sample will be analysed and provide us with a baseline result for the metabolite being assessed. You can book a nutritional consultation with our registered dieticians who can help curate a tailored dietary chart along with other lifestyle changes that you be advised to make. These metabolite values can be monitored on a monthly/ quarterly based on the health targets being set. This way, you will be able to see the trend (progress/ or no progress) in your nutritional status while you make changes to your lifestyle. It is important to note that your own test result (first nutritional test result) will serve as the baseline and reference point for further evaluation.
11. What are Reference Dietary Values (RDVs)? Reference Dietary Values (RDV) is the average daily dietary intake level that is sufficient to meet the nutrient requirement of nearly all (97 to 98 percent) healthy individuals in a particular life-stage and gender group. As per Health Canada, RDVs currently being used were last updated in 2010.
12. What are Metabolites? Metabolites are defined as intermediate products produced during cellular metabolism, catalyzed by various enzymes that occur naturally in the cells. Some of the common metabolites include cholesterol, glucose, fructose, amino acids, lactic acid, uric acid, etc.
The concentration of metabolites can get altered by many factors including, diet, nutrient status, toxin exposure, genetics, physiologic demands, gut microbiome alterations or disease stage.
Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Panel test can be purchased online at Intrinsic Analytics’ website or you can also book an appointment over the phone.
Once the appointment is booked, the sample collection will be coordinated by us. Sample collection (mostly blood or urine) will be done and sent to the laboratory for processing. Samples collected will be processed in an ISO certified laboratory in Alberta. The results will be analyzed and interpreted by a team of experts at Intrinsic Analytics and the test report will be sent to the consumer.
