  1. What to expect on the day of your appointment?
  • On the day of the nutrition test, we promise to make it a seamless process for you. The confirmation letter that you receive, will have the address and location details for the sample collection. 
  • Once you reach the location, you will be required to show the appointment confirmation at the front door of XX. A representative from Intrinsic Analytics will be there to escort you to the clinic.
  • The technician will provide you with the “Client Intake” paper work to fill in. It would include: consent forms and others. 
  • Once that is done, you will be introduced to the phlebotomist who will be attending you. He/ She will provide you with the instructions for the sample collection and collect the sample. 
  • You will also be emailed/ presented with a questionnaire regarding your medical history (which may include details such as prescribed medications, supplements being consumed, dietary habits, dietary restrictions, others). Data from this questionnaire will help us understand your medical condition better and suggest adequate measures in the future. You can choose to fill this questionnaire before you come to the appointment or you may choose to fill it once you are there for the appointment.  
  • Once the sample is collected, it will be pre-processed, stored and sent to the certified laboratory for analysis. You can expect the results in the next ?? business days.

  1. How do I prepare for the test?

Once your appointment is confirmed, you will receive a customised email with instructions outlining “How to prepare for the test” depending on the type of test you book for.

E.g. if you are getting a blood glucose (fasting) done, you would be required to come for the appointment empty stomach (fasting) for a minimum of 8 hours before your sample is collected. You can consume a small of amount of water.

Some general preparation instructions include:

  • Though you might be nervous, try and stay calm. 
  • Leave for the appointment well in time, so that you are not panicked and can get there on time. 
  • Avoid eating or drinking something different just a night before the test. In case of an unexpected response, it may hinder your health nutrition results.
  • Avoid alcohol or any drug consumption the night before testing.
  • Try to get a sound sleep before the test.
  • Wear comfortable and loose sleeves for the blood draw. 

 

  1. How can I book my BioNutrient Panel Test?

Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Panel test can be purchased online at Intrinsic Analytics’ website or you can also book an appointment over the phone.

Once the appointment is booked, the sample collection will be coordinated by us. Sample collection (mostly blood or urine) will be done and sent to the laboratory for processing. Samples collected will be processed in an ISO certified laboratory in Alberta. The results will be analyzed and interpreted by a team of experts at Intrinsic Analytics and the test report will be sent to the consumer.  


  1. How is Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Panel Test different from others?

Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Panel Test is a comprehensive multiplex assay for metabolite analysis of nutritional status. The test results will provide you with a snapshot of the current status of all the metabolites.

  1. Is Intrinsic Analytics’ BioNutrient Panel Test a pre-approved diagnostic test?

Intrinsic Analytics’ nutrition test is a Laboratory developed test (LDT) and therefore does not require additional market approvals. The product is a nutritional test focused on the comprehensive qualitative and quantitative evaluation of about 26 metabolites (vitamins and minerals) that play a key role in human health.


  1. Can I get a single metabolite evaluation using the BioNutrient Panel Test?

 

Yes, you can get a single metabolite evaluated for using the BioNutrient Panel Test. Our panel tests for about 26 vitamins and minerals. You can pick one or more from the list available in the panel.

  1. Do I need a requisition form from my clinician prior to booking my BioNutrient Panel Test?

You will need a requisition form from your clinician if you are getting a nutritional assessment done after being advised by your doctor.

However, if you are looking to get an overall nutritional assessment done to check for the vitamin and mineral levels, we do provide you with our own requisition form.


  1. Will my BioNutrient Panel Test be covered under my provincial health coverage?

Intrinsic Analytics is a private company and does not fall under the umbrella of the provincial laboratories doing similar assessments. Therefore, the test is currently not covered under the provincial health coverage.


  1. Does Intrinsic Analytics provide with nutritional consultations?

Yes, Intrinsic Analytics does provide nutritional consultations as a service at an additional cost. We have a team of nutritionists and registered dieticians that will assess your current nutritional health, dietary status and design a personalized action plan to fit your lifestyle and achieve your overall health goals.

  1. How will I be able to track my progress with respect to my nutritional health?

Once you book your first BioNutrient Panel Test, your sample will be analysed and provide us with a baseline result for the metabolite being assessed. You can book a nutritional consultation with our registered dieticians who can help curate a tailored dietary chart along with other lifestyle changes that you be advised to make. These metabolite values can be monitored on a monthly/ quarterly based on the health targets being set. This way, you will be able to see the trend (progress/ or no progress) in your nutritional status while you make changes to your lifestyle. It is important to note that your own test result (first nutritional test result) will serve as the baseline and reference point for further evaluation.
